Little Downham (2)

It was a long way up to Little Downham but we had 2 very exciting girlies on board which certainly made the long trip worth while. Both horses were competing in the Nov and ON.

My own DIAMOND HOLLY has been a work in progress and we have been working each other out, but I was very happy overall with the progress we are making. A much improved test of 27.8 was a welcome score after a lot of hard work in this phase! She then jumped her customary clear SJ and gave me a really super ride XC. We did pick up 20pen early on whilst still working out a new bit I was trying but overall I felt she gained in more and more confidence and the new bridle finally gave me some control and she allowed me to help her. It may be slow progress but we are going in the right direction and there is no doubt she is worth the wait!

AMAZING VIII was making her first appearance in over 3 years. She sustained a very nasty injury at Badminton 2015 and we believed she would not come back to competition. We have tried again and again to get her in foal but sadly she hasn’t been keen and therefore been totally wasted and bored in the field. We have been unbelievably lucky to have been working with the incredible team at Candletrees Equestrian in Somerset who not only looked after Maisie during her break but also spent a gruelling 4 months bringing her back into work slowly and carefully. She is such a special girl to our whole family especially mum and I and so we are so grateful to Michael and Tracy from Candletrees for all their endless hard work. Maisie had forgotten nothing inside the white boards to score a 26.5 and then rolled a pole SJ. She had a great spin round the XC picking up a few time but still managed a handy 6th place. It was such a lovely day having her back out we will just enjoy each event as it comes with this very special horse.
