Tweseldown

Well we were very lucky to be heading off to Tweseldown for our first event of the 2018 season. There was certainly some doubt at the beginning of the week as to wether the event would be running given the recent snow! Tweseldown did a phenomenal job preparing the courses and salvaging the best possible ground they could as the “Beast from the East” certainly didn’t make it easy for them!

I was riding MOYLAW BADGER (Milo), DIAMOND GAMBLER (Brian) and new ride for 2018  DIAMOND HOLLY (Princess) all in the Novice classes. All three performed reasonable tests especially given that this was their first time out on grass this year to score 30, 31 and 31. Unfortunately both Milo and Brian both struggled in the energy sapping deep going in the show-jumping, but gave me steady but confident clears cross-country to blow away the cobwebs. They both felt very good, and I was especially pleased with how much more mature Brian felt after a winters work. Princess jumped a beautiful clear SJ but sadly really didn’t enjoy our new bitting choice for the XC and we called it a day. Being a new ride for this year we are still getting to know each other and she is quite a sensitive character, but I am excited to find out more about her and fingers crossed we will form a really strong partnership in the next few events.

Such a shame for the whole Tweseldown team that the 2nd two days had to be abandoned. Its always such a shame after all the incredible hard work they put in so a massive thank you must to Tweseldown and all the BE volutneers for braving the weather and making the first couple of days such a success.
